Caren is the Owner and Broker of Equestrian Real Estate. With more than 25 years of diverse, high value real estate experience and a lifetime of equestrian knowledge, Caren Kelley leads the Equestrian Real Estate team with strong values of trust, dedication, service and success. Her wealth of experience and caring commitment to excellence adds value to every team member and client of Equestrian Real Estate.

When Caren transitioned from a professional riding career to real estate brokerage, she initially focused on commercial investment properties. Her notable sales included the SDG&E corporate headquarters in downtown San Diego, the former Home Fed tower, and a 760 unit luxury apartment complex. Her clients included institutions and private investors, as well as a multi-billion dollar local public pension fund. The San Diego County Commercial Association of Realtors honored Caren in 1999 as the “Deal Maker of the Year” for a creative $30 million lease transaction involving the adaptation of a failed downtown retail property into a corporate HQ, and the subsequent sale of that property for $32 million.  Recognizing the need for specialized services, Caren launched Equestrian Real Estate in 2005 and has continued her track record of success, listing and selling many of the area’s largest and most desirable properties, such as Vessels Ranch ($28 million) and Cavallo Farms ($7.125 million) in 2015, Rocky Mountain Warmbloods, (RSF Covenant – $5.9 million) in 2013, 17575 Rancho La Noria, (Luxury Residence, RSF Covenant -$9.2 million) in 2012, and 400 undeveloped acres for $12,750,000 in 2011, comprising approximately one billion dollars in total career sales. Visit our Sold Gallery for details regarding our many completed transactions.

Puissance2Caren (Brown) Kelley began riding competitively at age 11 in San Diego County, learning the horse business literally from the ground up as a working student. She continued working as a rider and trainer while completing her education, attending UCSD and graduating Magna Cum Laude from Portland State University. Her most memorable professional equestrian accomplishments involved competing in Grand Prix show jumping events, winning two Puissance classes, riding many young horses to hunter/jumper championships and owning and operating a riding school and training business. Upon returning to the show ring as an amateur, Caren enjoyed competing in the Young Jumper and Amateur/Owner Jumper divisions and also supporting her daughter’s equestrian adventures. Seriously injured while competing in 2006, her primary focus at this time is Equestrian Real Estate but she still owns a horse and finds great joy in riding.

Caren resides in Del Mar with her husband, Craig Kelley (www.kelleyinvestments.com) Daughter Devon Kelley lives in San Francisco and works at Skywalker Sound after graduating from SFAI. Son Caden Kelley attends Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. Both children attended Del Mar schools and graduated from Torrey Pines High School in the San Dieguito School District.
